January, 2011 — Cajun Cottage is a place for those who enjoy Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music in the Delaware Valley. We started in the Fall of 2009 with a Benefit Halloween Dance Party at Sangha Ballroom in Media, PA. With both the Cajun Aces and Sidewalk Zydeco donating their performances to the NOLA Habitat for Humanity’s Musicians Village Project, over $1,000 was raised. After that great start, we continued having monthly dances at Sangha Ballroom until March, 2010.
Our move to Homestead Hall in Jenkintown, PA in the Spring of 2010 went well, and the area C/Z dancers loved the wonderful hardwood dance floor, good acoustics and ambience of that beautiful facility. In recent months, we have started having events at the Centre for Well Being in Northeast Philly, which offers a smaller, more intimate setting for our Cajun Cottage Louisiana Dance Parties. Larger events, mainly those with live Cajun or Zydeco bands, will continue to be held at Homestead Hall.
This website will be used to announce our events, as well as a place to publish links music, musicians, bands, venues, festivals, and Cajun cooking. Audio and video links have already been added to some pages on the site, and in the future more Cajun music will be added for your listening and viewing pleasure.
This site uses WordPress open source blogging software, and is administered by How Carson, a web designer, C/Z danceaholic, and fan of Louisiana music for nearly 20 years.
